Has anyone seen the new Action News promo for "Big Board"? The station's newest news technological tool in presenting weather, traffic and other stories, Big Board is a large touch screen TV monitor where several graphics and live video can be manipulated by the touch of a finger. In addition, the talent can draw and illustrate with their finger literally over the picture or graphic being presented. WPVI is the only station in this market to own this piece of equipment. CNN also comes to mind as they too have a big board.
The promo is a thirty second fun and amusing look at "big board" and the various Action News staff who use it, including Adam Joseph, Karen Rogers, Melissa Magee, David Murphy, Nydia Han and Allie Gorman as they are shown drawing, manipulating and illustrating with an instrumental piece of music playing in the background. CHECK OUT THE PROMO HERE.
Adam Joseph seems to be the one who's best mastered big board's capability as evidenced during the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.

I love that thing they use. It goes haywire sometimes for Karen though which is funny. She handles it well.
Just what "news" coverage needs, more laughs. Glad they're all having fun.
OH I LOVE IT! Notice Matt O'Donnell is in it but not Jim Gardner. Wonder why?
Jim doesnt use the big board
Haha...that is funny how that Jim Gardner is not included. Usually when there is a promo for the entire Action News team and not one person, the legendary Jim Gardner is usually included. But it is very true that Mr. Gardner does not use the Action News "Big Board."
I noticed yesterday that they are now using a "Action News Big Board" stinger at the top of the newscast as the weather is introduced.
i just watched the 5 o'clock news and Cecily used the big board quite effectively. She showed the effects of the volcanic smoke/ash in why it has grounded air traffic...showed satellite of the 900 mile smoke plume and the countries affected. Pretty neat stuff.
I liked the way there was no words and then "Move Closer" came up on the screen. Very classy way to tie together their theme to the technology.
I find the big board very annoying. It's big, it's small, they draw lines, they erase lines. I don't like it at all.
