In my local news surfing...I've seen Shirleen Allicot reporting a few times on "Action News" as well as filling in on the anchor desk recently. Yesterday, once again, she sat alongside Rick Williams filling in for Monica Malpass. So, I wondered, who IS this Shirleen Allicot anyway?
According to 6abc.com, Allicot joined WPVI in May from "News 12 Network" in Connecticut where she began her career shooting, writing and editing her own stories and anchored the weekday morning newscasts. Allicot is a native of Queens, New York with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Hopefully, we'll see more of her on the anchor desk! She sure is much more of a compliment to the 5 o'clock newscast than Monica Malpass.

Her real name is Shirleen Allicock... Pretty obvious why she changed it for TV. Went to college with her. She represents the new age of self-absorbed journalism where the people in front of the camera think they are the story, instead of the story itself.

I didn't get that impression when she was here on CT news12. I found this page beause I was wondering what happened to her. Happy to see she is still doing here thing.

She does give the impression that it is all about her & not the story she is reporting. I have never seen anything quite like it. It is her body language, facial expressions. How old is she. She does not look like a spring chicken.

With regards to all the negativity in the world and sad news that is reported daily, I am glad Action News in Philly found this lady. I find myself watching her rather then listening to the dismal stories that are reported. Good Luck Shirleen and Great job Channel Six in Philadelphia.
i have just recently made this young lady's tv acquaintance and found her to be attractive, bright, focused, articulate and a thorough professional.... stop tv hating... it only reflects on the haters.... we need more shirleens on tv news

I had the pleasue of meeting Shirleen in the Lexus Club at the wells Fargo Center during the Sixers vs Bulls game. She is very intelligent as well as beautiful.
Between Shirleen Allicot, Karen Rogers, and Alicia Vitarelli, I think Action News has cornered the market on beautiful and engaging, yet thoroughly accomplished professionals.
