24/7 TRAFFIC CHANNEL HEADING THIS WAY

Malvern based "Tango Traffic" has announced a partnership with WPHL-TV to begin a 24/7 traffic channel on WPHL's digital channel 17.4 beginning January 1st. “Now, for the first time, they can watch live local traffic reports on TV 24/7. They will also have the ability to personalize their commuter experiences by designating their favorite routes and streaming those route reports to their computers or mobile devices", said Tim Chambers, CEO of Tango Traffic.
Tango Traffic is the fourth traffic service in Philadelphia behind Metro Networks, Traffic Pulse and Clear Channel's Total Traffic. Tango Traffic is holding interviews November 14th at the WPHL studios for on-air hosts and producers. Read more about this venture HERE.

This could be interesting if they do it right. Wonder what they'll program after rush is over at night when there isn't much but construction.

Sounds like the Weather Channel but for traffic. I like it! Especially for bad weather. I really hope they keep updating minute by minute and it's easily available by mobile. Maybe after rush hour they can do features like the WC does -- interesting background on construction projects, traffic nightmares, alternate routes ... could be interesting!

I agree with the 2nd poster. But, I have to say with the way media has become, they'll probably go the lazy route and not do much innovative with much background feature stuff. But as you said, if they gave background info on specific construction projects (meaning, WHAT'S THE END RESULT GOING TO PROVIDE?); maybe showing actual alternate routes; what about putting a streaming mobile-cam in a vehicle stuck in traffic to show actual conditions?; maybe partnering with AAA for safety travel & vehicle maintenance info; etc. it could possible become the next "weather channel"? Who knows?
