Former NBC10 News Director Returning to Our City

Former NBC10 News Director, Steve Schwaid, returns to Philadelphia to take the same post at WTXF FOX29. The position also includes the title of "Vice President" in addition to News Director, a post Schwaid will begin in August. Schwaid was News Director across town at WCAU and responsible for the station nipping the heels of WPVI's 11 p.m. news rating as well as introducing the EARTHWATCH brand and bringing weather into the lead of most newscasts. Schwaid joins fellow alums Dave Schratweiser and John Bolaris. Schwaid comes to Philadelphia from his post as News Director at Atlanta's CBS station, WGNX. Read the story of Schwaid's return HERE.
There's also some interesting reading on Steve's blog, though, it hasn't been updated since March 28th. Check it out HERE.

oh god. are we going to be inundated with weather from Bolaris with this news? after all, he's the one who ran the crawl during primetime programming of the storm of the century that later, never materialized. Bolaris was eventually moving from 10 to New York and with his tail between his legs.

Could this guy do a balsy move in bringing back Larry Mendte to replace Thomas Drayton? If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Schwaid was the one who brought Mendte to Channel 10.

Ya know, might be a ratings grabber to bring Mendte back. Never was a fan of Drayton. Mendte certainly brought up the ratings over at 3. Could do the same for 29.

What about Mendte and his wife Dawn, who used to be at Fox? I think channel 29 made a big mistake letting Dawn go and I know many people who haven't watched them since. And Mendte is a Philly guy who was succesful at 10 and 3 - he has the talent and this town LOVES second chances. I think they would win - not just at 10 - but beat 6-3-and 10 with the two Mendtes.
